Night Photographs by Todd Hido

Todd Hido was one of my teachers at California College of the Arts. He started this body of work just after he finished graduate school - he actually even built a special tripod that attached to the door of his car, so he could should these night photographs and not look suspicious wandering around suburban neighborhoods at night. The series is aptly titled, "House Hunting". He shoots these in film and dramatizes the night color shifts when he prints in the darkroom - but much of this strange light exists in the atmosphere.
